What I Did on My Summer Vacation

The only problem with family vacations is that I always end up more tired than I was before the vacation. We're talking new baby plus final grades due plus 10-page essays to grade tired. My eyes are currently glazed over like a Krispy Kreme.
So, instead of forcing myself to entertain...well, myself, with witty stories and scinitilating tales of the fun in Chicago (his family), St. Louis (my family) and Cadiz, Kentucky (population 6.2--my parents' lake house), here is a random conglomeration of pictures from said festivities. If you're lucky, they'll have captions, but no promises.

The sunset over Lake Barkley. My dad just got the boat, I thought he was going to make us live on it while we were there. The scenery, though, was killer.

Me, tubing. Standing in a tube while being pulled around a lake by a crazy man who hunts down the wakes of passing speedboats like it's his job is one hell of a butt workout.

Because a man can never allow himself to be bested by his wife... Patrick standing while tubing with no hands. This, however, did not last long.

My whole lovely family--sisters, fiances, parents, husband, kid---it's a lot.

The kids' nature walk at the zoo wasn't super thrilling. This was pretty, though.

Ashlyn and her cousins helping with a 'super fun project'. They washed everyone's cars. She's such a stunna.

Yup, that's my hubby on a Slip N Slide.

I love Howl. A lot. This is evidenced by my drunk husband, our loud singing, my tongue stained blue from the buckets of Adios Mother F'ers and my shirt falling off. Good times.

Ashlyn using the "noculars" to check on Nana.

OK, now you have to sort of squint and trust me, but that brown blob sitting in the nest to the left of the light in the center at the top in a bald eagle. Later, we may have gotten too close to her babies, because she was circling like she was going to dive bomb us any second. That would have been a way cooler story.

My child is a daredevil. She and her daddy rode the waterslide 90 zillion times. I had to take pictures, so I couldn't. Darn.

You know this makes you want one!

Drew, Ashlyn's cousin. They could practically be twins. The hamming it up also runs in the Clemens blood.

Auntie Annie, Drew, Daddy and Ashlyn riding the KiddieLand roller coaster. For the 14th time.

My neice Justine. This may be the only picture in existance of her not pouting. She's 8. That's what she does.

My little scientist looking for bugs.

The gorillas were so 'on' while we were there. There was chest-banging and bed-stealing and all types of monkey fun.

The 11th commandment: Thou shalt eat pizza. I knew I loved Chicago.

Reese, neice #3. She thinks she's America's Next Top Model.

That picture of Ashlyn with the magnifying glass is awesome. She really is very very cute - but I guess you knew that?
